You spotted a whale - lucky you!

Here are some things you can do to help scientists and protect the animals.

  1. Make sure you are following NOAA guidelines for safely interacting with marine mammals

  2. Submit your whale photos to Happy Whale, particularly if you got a photo of the whale’s fluke.

  3. Use Whale Alert to report whale sightings and reduce ship strikes. This is especially important if you saw the whale in a high traffic area.

  4. Share your story with the community on Whale Tales.

  5. Not sure what you saw? Contact me and I’ll try to help you figure it out.

Thank you for being a citizen scientist and helping us solve the mysteries surrounding these beautiful animals!
